Day Designer Planner

I have got to share with you my new 2020 planner! I looked at a lot of different planners before deciding on this one. And, in all honesty, I already had a planner for 2020 but when Jennifer Allwood mentioned this one, I had to check it out. (If you don’t follow Jennifer Allwood on Facebook or Instagram, go do that now and then come back and finish reading this!)

It’s a Day Designer planner — “original flagship” size. I actually ordered mine on Amazon because most of the patterns for the size of I wanted were already sold out on the Day Designer website.

While it’s one of the largest planners I’ve ever had, it seems to have EVERYTHING I was looking for —

  • monthly calendar
  • a separate page for each day that includes
    • daily inspirational quote
    • “Today’s Top Three” things to get done
    • place to write what’s for Dinner
    • the days are marked out by hours
    • several lines for a daily “To Do” list
    • Notes section
    • section to write a Daily Gratitude
  • there is a pocket inside the front cover to store loose papers
  • and then there are several pages for writing down your goals, daily habits, list of important dates, etc.

One of the things that really attracted me to this design was how there was a page for each day of the week and then it’s broken down by hours with a really long “to do” list on the side.

Planner Page

Now, I’ve never preferred this type of planner where it’s set up for you to plan each hour of your day. I’ve always wanted the big blank box for each day and then I would write in my appointments, meetings, and notes.

But, I had recently read the book “The Miracle Equation” by Hal Elrod where he talks about wanting to spend more time with his kids so he started blocking out time on his planner each day for this. I have to say that this method works! I was working this past Saturday and my son asked me if we could go somewhere to get out of the house (we are still on Christmas break). I grabbed my planner and blocked out time for this. Now, I know this may sound a little silly but it forced me to stop working at a specific time and then spend time with him. I feel that too often we will spend extra hours working to finish something for work when we should really be putting limits on our “work” time and making time for our family.
